Jo Jingles is a structured music and movement programme for babies and children from birth to five. Founded in 1991 and built around the recognised benefits of early musical play, the programme has spent over three decades refining how music supports the developmental milestones that matter most in the early years.
Every session is carefully aligned with the Early Years Foundation Stage and targets specific areas of development: speech and language, imagination and creativity, listening and memory, and early mathematical thinking. With more than 30 years of delivery, the programme works, and the results speak for themselves across hundreds of local communities in the UK and Ireland.

How Jo Jingles began and grew
Jo Jingles was founded by Gill Thomas in 1991, initially under the name Musical Minors in Beaconsfield. What began as a small local venture quickly revealed broader potential. Thomas spent time researching pre-school play and early childhood development, building a programme around the recognised developmental benefits of early music exposure.
In 1995, the programme was rebranded as Jo Jingles and launched as a franchise. The name came from the brand’s cheerful red and yellow mascot, Jo, created to actively engage children in sessions and capture their imaginations. The bespoke music used in the programme was composed specifically for it by musicians Tim Cross and Ian Rowland, ensuring the songs were written to support developmental goals rather than adapted from existing material.
Today, Jo Jingles operates across more than 700 locations in the UK and Ireland, with a dedicated network of franchisees bringing the programme to local communities. The curriculum continues to align directly with the Early Years Foundation Stage, as it has done since the programme’s earliest years.

Jo Jingles classes run for babies and children from birth to five years old, with each class structured to match the developmental stage of the children attending. Sessions include singing, movement, and hands-on instrument play, with every activity carefully chosen to support specific developmental milestones.
Small, consistent groups each term mean that children develop at their own pace in a familiar environment, building confidence, communication skills, and friendships alongside the music.
The safety and wellbeing of every child and family in our classes is a priority. All Jo Jingles sessions are run in line with strict hygiene and safety standards, so parents can focus on enjoying the session with their child.
